More AI, Not Less

So I’m going through a bit of crisis, and from talking with other folks, I’m not alone. I don’t think it’s exactly the crisis “the media” is popularizing, “AI is replacing software developers”, although it’s related.

It’s rather that using AI tools in some of the daily workflows (some of which are indeed parts I’ve spent tons of time building skills in) means the other, non-automated, parts are solely left to the humans.

This partial move to AI tools has shifted the ratio of my daily work from 50%/50% high-IQ vs low-IQ work to an unhealthy 10%/90%, ie. the daily work no longer feels fulfilling.

The solution to this is paradoxically more AI automation, not less.

Because of the new AI tools, some high-IQ work is replaced by copy-paste from/to AI chat windows, or checking whether a chance is high risk vs low risk, whether a plan is good, allow/deny certain flagged steps, etc. This can and should be automated too!

Everything that can be automated with AI, should be automated with AI. Only then can we humans focus on the unique value we provide to organizations and its processes.
